Foundation - Robins & Barn Owls
The children in foundation stage had such fun during science week, using their senses in every possible way, to explore the world around them.
The children had a fantastic first day back diving into their learning with cultural day. Between the two classes the children visited Great Britain, France, Australia, India and Egypt to experience different cultures.
They coped so well and a fantastic day was had by all.
The children had a great time watching the Pantomime last week and loved joining in with all the singing and dancing.
We have spent this week reading stories about Dragons, decorating our class dragons, making dragon puppets and using descriptive words to describe different types of dragons. This will lead us nicely into celebrating Chinese New Year the week after next.
We also had ‘Asda Man’ (aka George’s dad) in this week to cook us up a nice Chinese style treat. Thank you!
It was yummy!
The children had a fantastic visit to Appledore Art Studio, each making a Chinese Dragon Puppet to take home and a huge class dragon to take back to school. The children also had time to sketch , paint, model make and, enjoy small world dragon play.
We look forward to finishing our class dragons back at school ready for the Chinese New Year celebrations!
We have had a busy few weeks learning all of our words and songs for the Christmas performance. The children have been fantastic in rehearsals and we are all very excited to share with you all our hard work. The children have enjoyed letting off steam in CP building, creating, writing and making.
We have had a fantastic couple of weeks since returning after the half term. We started the week looking at Eric Carle books and paying particular attention to the fantastic artwork that the books contained. In Continuous Provision the children spent the week working in different ways and mediums. This enabled us to create some brilliant artwork inspired by Eric Carle’s books. The children also looked at some famous artists and copied their style/method of working.
Forest school also started and the children are having a great time exploring the environmental area and creating some transient artwork inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.
This week has been all about Diwali and how it is celebrate throughout the world. The children explored the story of Rama and Sita and have enjoyed exploring and designing their own Mendhi and Rangoli patterns. We have linked the theme of patterns with our ongoing learning of shapes.
We have had a fantastic few weeks in Foundation Stage. The children have started learning their letter sounds in phonics and it has been great to see them recognising these letters in the environment.
Lots of the children came back this week excited about seeing the circus at the weekend so we decided to create our own circus. The children have loved making up performances and putting on their very own shows. We have seen some fantastic singing and musician’s galore.
Settling in together.
We have had a lovely first few weeks settling in together. The children have been fantastic learning all the new school routines and expectations.
