We are St Mary’s Rota Kids!
We are going to raise money for different charities. We aim to organise lively activities that will make a positive difference in our school, in our local community and globally.
Rota Kids club have had a special visit from Shelter Box. It was interesting learning about what Shelter Box do. We put up a tent as a team and went inside! We were lucky enough to get a demonstration of the other items that come in the box such as a solar light. The children had great fun trying on the hats and gloves. We were surprised at how much help Shelter Box gives to people.
We had a special group of visitors that came to our good work and praise assembly this week. We were delighted to be awarded a certificate that recognises the formation our Rota Kids club. Our certificate is signed by the President of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.
We have stated our pledge,
"As a RotaKid,
I endeavour to be fair to all
to serve my community
and to show respect for others"
After, we enjoyed a special Rota Kids Cake!
As a Rotarian we will come up with ideas like:
1. fundraising money for charity
2. leading on school and local community improvement projects
3. improving the environment
4. helping the elderly
5. helping children in another country.
We believe the “sky is the limit!”

Please read this letter and take part in our first competition!
Rotakid Club is organising their first event for charity in the form of an Easter Scenery Art/Craft Competition, which children can work on over the Easter holiday.
All entries will be 50p, which will go to charity, the scene can have any theme but will need to include a decorated blown egg or hard-boiled egg and be presented in appropriate creative scenery using for example an egg box, other box/container or craft materials.
Please bring entries into school on Thursday 14th April, which is when the Rotakid Club meets again, and we will carry out the judging.
There will be 1st and 2nd prizes for both Key Stage 1 and 2.
We are hoping that children will be creative and come up with some really unusual ideas and we look forward to seeing the finished results.
